How Do I Launch My
MLP?
As soon as we receive your authorization, we will
send you an e-mail message from Relational Dynamics
containing a link and a unique access code. When
you click on the link, you will arrive at a page on
our server that describes, in detail, how to use the
MLP.
You will be invited to enter your name and access
code, which will enable you to log in, and then to
enter the names and e-mail addresses of persons you
would like to rate you anonymously. Finally, you
will have an opportunity to rate yourself on the
same items that will be presented to your raters,
which will allow you to compare your
self-perceptions with the perceptions of others.
The
entire process takes less than fifteen minutes.
What Happens Next?
When you enter the names and e-mail addresses of
your raters, and rate yourself, our server sends out
a request on your behalf to each of your raters,
asking him or her to rate you andif you elect this
optionto provide write-in comments in response to
the following questions: (1) What are you doing
well?; (2) What could/should you do better?; and,
(3) What two or three specific (behavioral)
recommendations would the rater make to you in the
interests of performance improvement?
Do My Raters Get Reminders?
Yes. We've programmed the server to send out a
gentle reminder to any rater who does not respond
within three days. If, after a week, a rater still
hasn't responded, it sends out a second reminder. A
week later a third reminder goes out to any rater
who has not logged on and rated you. If a rater
does not respond after four requests, it usually
means that, for whatever reason, he or she does not
want to provide input.
Can I Monitor the Progress of My Raters?
Yes. When you launch your
MLP, the
system will allow you to print out a list of those
persons you've asked to rate you. You can also log
back in at any time to see who has, and who has not,
provided feedback.
Why Is the MLP Administered Online?
When we moved a few years ago from paper-and-pencil
methods to web-based data collection, a
higher
percentage of raters participated, their write-in
comments were more detailed, and they tended to
respond faster. All of which meant that we were
able to generate better reports in less timequality
went up and cycle time went down.
How Is My
MLP Report
Delivered to Me?
We send it to you, via first-class mail, at whatever
address you indicate on this order form (see other
side).
Will
I Be Able to Discuss My Results with Someone at RDI?
If you elect our "MLP
with Comments and Coaching" option, we will provide
you with up to one hour of coaching via telephone.
This hour can be divided into two half-hour sessions
if you wish, but it must be used within three months
of when your MLP
report is generated.
How Is My Coach Selected If I Choose the Coaching
Option?
We will do our best to pair you with a coach with
whom you'll be eminently pleased. Our coaches are
personable and seasoned professionals who know the
world of business from the inside.
How Do I Get in Touch With My Coach?
We will provide you with contact information when we
send your MLP
report.
What If I Don't Like My Coach?
We're interested in developing a long-term
relationship with you, one grounded in mutual
trust. If, after conferring with your coach, you
are not satisfied, we will do our best to assign you
to another coach who will work with you during
whatever coaching time you have remaining.
Can I Purchase Additional Coaching Time?
Yes. We hope that you find the hour you spend on
the phone with your coach to be highly rewarding,
such that he or she becomes a trusted
confidantsomeone
with whom you can discuss anything about work, from
office politics to the formulation of a
personal-professional development plan.
Does RDI Sell or Rent Its Customer Lists?
Absolutely not! We treat all customer information
as sacred and use it
only for
your benefit. The only "solicitations" you'll
receive will be from usand, then, only if you want
them.
When Do I Remit Payment?
We'll bill you and merely ask that you make
remittance within ten days. As soon as we receive
payment, we will mail your
MLP
report to the address you indicate. Some companies
are willing to underwrite the costs of development
efforts, so you might ask your supervisor if this is
possible. We accept purchase orders from
established companies.
How Many Raters Do I Need?
To get numerical results at the Supervisor level, at
least two
"Supervisors" must rate you, so interpret the word
supervisor
liberallyenter the name of anyone, past or present,
to whom you've been accountable, even if it's from
another company or an outside organization. To get
numerical results at the Peer or Subordinate levels,
at least three
persons must rate you, respectively, at each of
these levels. Even if you have no subordinates, we
recommend that you use
all
available slotsfive
for Supervisors,
seven
for Peers, and
seven for Subordinatessince the more
raters you have, the more information your
MLP
report will contain.
What About the Comments if Not Enough Raters Provide
Feedback?
If you use all 19 available slots for raters, it is
highly likely that you will receive numerical
feedback at all
three levelsSupervisors, Peers, and Subordinates.
Should fewer than two Supervisors, three Peers, or
three Subordinates participate, and you elect either
the "MLP
with Comments" or "MLP
with Comments and Coaching" option, you will still
receive all
comments entered by
all
raters. |
